6 Types of Edibles to Eat or Make on Your Own

Edibles to Eat

Edibles are a fun and popular way to ingest cannabis. Just like everything else, there are some edible pros and cons. As far as pros, they are a more discreet way of dosing since there are no visible signs or odor and they are a great alternative to smoking, especially for individuals who suffer from respiratory issues. The cons include a longer onset time and it’s hard to gauge what the effects will be. Even though there is a longer onset time, edibles produce a strong long-lasting high.

The first thing to do when making edibles is to perform a process known as decarboxylation. This is a process where heat is applied to the cannabis so that the THCA turns to THC. This is basically just grinding up the cannabis and baking it around 220℉-245℉ for 30-45 minutes. Once the leaves turn a golden brown, then it’s ready.

Next, you need a weed-infused ingredient. Weed butter is commonly used. To make this, melt the butter over low to medium heat and slowly add water. As the butter melts, add one cup of ground cannabis. Let simmer for three hours and occasionally stir. A cheesecloth can be used to remove the raw material and pour the remaining liquid into another container. Store in the fridge for one hour.

  • Cannabis Tea

We’ll start with an easy recipe and an easy way to incorporate weed into your edibles. Simply add cannabutter to your tea and let the weed dissolve. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy a cup of hot tea.

  • Cannabis Ice Cream

Here’s another easy recipe. Melt 15 ozs of heavy cream over low to medium heat. Add ¾ cups of sugar and cannabutter and mix together. Add fruit, chocolate chips, or any other ingredient to capture the desired flavor. Store in the freezer for a few hours. This makes a great edible for the sweet months of summer.

  • Cannabis Popcorn

With this recipe you’re simply going to replace the butter with cannabutter when making popcorn using whatever method you are accustomed to. Combine a ¼ cup of cannabutter with ⅔ cup of popcorn kernels. Then add salt if desired.

  • Firecracker Edibles

Break one graham cracker in half. Spread peanut butter on one half of the cracker and on the other half spread the Nutella. Sprinkle or mix the cannabis with the peanut butter. Sandwich the two pieces together and bake for 20-25 minutes at 300-320℉.

  • Weed Brownies

This is a classic weed recipe. Preheat oven to 350℉. Grease the bottom of the baking dish with ½ cup of cannabutter. Add 1 box of brownie mix, 2 eggs, ¼ cup of water, and cannabutter into a large bowl. Mix all of the ingredients. Pour brownie mix into a baking dish and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

  • Gummies

You won’t use cannabutter to make gummies but you can use weed coconut oil. To make the coconut oil, add one cup of coconut oil to melt in a slow cooker set on low heat. Add 7 grams of cannabis and stir. Let the mixture steep for 3 to 4 hours. Line an airtight container with cheesecloth and secure it with a rubber band. Once the oil has cooled, pour it into the container and let it sit for a few minutes.

For the gummies, pour ½ cup of fruit juice, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and ⅓ cup of water into a saucepan. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes. Add cannabis oil and mix it slowly with 3 tablespoons of honey and liquid ingredients. Add gelatin and mix until it dissolves. Pour mixture into a mold and let cool for 15-20 minutes. Remove and cover with granulated sugar. Add citric acid for sour gummies.

With the legalization of marijuana, edibles have become a popular trend. You can typically infuse any food with weed depending on the form of cannabis. Edibles are potent, an easy method of dosing, and provide long-lasting effects. The effect usually lasts anywhere from four to six hours depending on the dose. If you want to combine food with a totally relaxed experience then edibles are a no brainer.
