Playable Characters in Grand Theft Auto: from Worst to Best

Grand Theft Auto

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series has set the standard for open-world games since 2001. In the series’ lengthy history, violent murderers and misguided street thugs have appeared. Grand Theft Auto has one of the best casts of all story-driven adventure games. Who’s best?

Grand Theft Auto has changed throughout the years. There are 12 playable characters in the GTA series, not counting the expansions’ optional characters. In such games, character choices didn’t affect the storyline, making them just avatars. Every GTA character is ranked, beginning with GTA 3’s protagonist.

Huang Lee, number twelve (GTA: Chinatown Wars)

When it comes to Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Huang’s whole personality revolves on vengeance. As soon as he sets foot in the United States, the immigrant starts plotting his revenge on the individual who killed his whole family. The storyline is cliche, and Chinatown Wars was overlooked in favor of other Grand Theft Auto games since it was released only for portable devices.

Claudine Speed number eleven (GTA 3)

Grand Theft Auto 3 was lauded for its technological prowess, but its quiet protagonist, named Claude, lacked character. There isn’t much information about his past other than the fact that he has made a career out of committing crimes for money. Claude’s stone visage and silent demeanor make him seem to be a cold-blooded monster, even if Rockstar didn’t intend for this to happen. Compared to Link from The Legend of Zelda, he’s a dirty wanderer.

Toni Cipriani, number ten (GTA: Liberty City Stories)

GTA 3: Liberty City Stories non-playable character. Toni was born into the criminal Leone family and is highly dedicated to his mother.

Salvatore Leone must trust him to stay out of prison. Given that he appears like Tony Soprano, we put him last.

Victor Vance number nine (GTA: Vice City Stories)

On the list, Victor Vance is the most deserving. When the protagonist of Vice City Stories enlists in the military to help pay for his ailing brother’s medical care, a corrupt sergeant terminates his service early. Because of this, Victor ends up living a life of crime, which is how he dies. With his brief lifespan, Rockstar gave him enough history to keep things intriguing.

Johnny Klebitz, number eight (GTA: The Lost And The Damned)

Johnny is the book’s protagonist. As a member of “The Lost MC,” he’s affiliated with dishonest politicians and other gangs. He’s also drug-free. Despite being absurdly sarcastic, he has a few human moments that make him stand out.

In GTA 5, he’s a meth-addicted sidekick. Johnny’s death by Trevor Phillips makes him a lesser figure, unlike the others.

Tommy Vercetti number seven (GTA: Vice City)

Tommy Vercetti is a cruel criminal in Vice City. Despite their similarities, Rockstar gave the protagonist (Ray Liotta’s voice) more personality than Claude.

In Vice City, players assume the character of professional criminal Tommy, who has just been released from prison and needs help rising through Miami’s criminal underground. He’s the perfect criminal leader despite a dearth of background knowledge. He’s Tony Montana from GTA.

Luis Lopez number six (GTA: The Ballad Of Gay Tony)

Luis Lopez stars in the upcoming GTA4 DLC The Ballad of Gay Tony. Despite his short stint in GTA, his character in the expansion pack is refreshing.

Tony Prince hires Luis, a former thug-turned-bodyguard. Their banter sheds insight into Luis’ criminal history. The Ballad of Gay Tony includes a chat between Tony and his mother, revealing Tony’s childhood. He deserved more screen time after the DLC.

Franklin Clinton number five (GTA 5)

Franklin Clinton’s narrative arc is one of the most optimistic of the three primary characters, despite his violence. He has a rags-to-riches experience with GTA 5’s Michael De Santa and Trevor Phillips.

Franklin joins Michael and Trevor to escape small-time criminality. Franklin’s willingness to help the other two characters wins them over. Franklin’s ties with Michael and Trevor help him achieve his goals. Franklin’s tale is well-developed, yet he sometimes seems like a spectator, making him less memorable.

Wanted to play this game as Franklin, but don’t feel like downloading the character? Then GTA 5 accounts for buying will help you!

Trevor Phillips number four (GTA 5)

As the comedic relief in GTA 5’s bleak conclusion, Trevor Phillips is a classic example of a psychopath. In the vein of Tommy and Claude, he inherited their unstable and deadly inclinations while remaining unwaveringly devoted to his pals. He became one of the most adored characters in Grand Theft Auto because of the contrast between his insane behavior and his unshakable loyalty. It’s also funny to switch to Trevor’s point of view in GTA 5 and find him either in trouble or sleeping in a gutter. He is a legend and is known as wild character

Michael De Santa number three (GTA 5)

Michael De Santa’s true emotional struggles, even if they’re exaggerated, make him a well-written GTA 5 character. The ex-bank robber has a family, a mansion, and enough money for life.

Michael is a humorous egotist who is never pleased. A dangerous guy would do everything to get what he wants, even if it means hurting his loved ones. His rugged look belies an unquenchable desire for money and recognition that has driven GTA since its start. Use GTA 5 tricks and tips to satisfy all his wishes.

Niko Bellic number two (GTA 4)

GTA 4 has numerous humorous moments, but they’re all backdrop to Niko Bellic’s misery. He travels to Liberty City from Eastern Europe to start again, but he swiftly falls back into crime.

In GTA 4, Niko’s whole life is presented as the scenario he was escaping by having players do dirty favors with him. Even Roman’s cousin’s bowling vacation can’t prevent catastrophe.

Carl “CJ” Johnson number jne (GTA: San Andreas)

The GTA franchise has changed since CJ’s creation. Rockstar has moved away from crazy protagonists like Tommy and Claude to more interesting characters.

GTA San Andreas gave players a feeling of the protagonist’s origins, albeit it wasn’t clear where he came from. CJ’s actions in San Andreas were impacted by his mother’s shooting, as indicated in player discussions. CJ had greater goals than being a killer. These character motives influenced Rockstar’s approach to GTA 4 and GTA 5.
